Increasing Intelligence Through Responsibility

December 15th, 2009 § 0

Has our culture created such a thing as 'personal corporations'? People whose lives are run like a corporation...

  • No responsibility or liability for your actions, and instead pretending as though it is your responsibility to govern the actions of others.
  • Loopholes and scapegoats to the point that those close to you no longer know just who it is they are speaking with.
  • A plethora of excuses to pick from.
  • Impersonal customer service..

I had an experience with a couple of companies and government agencies over the last several months that has left me disappointed and reeling, while at the same time understanding that it isn't just companies anymore that have poor interpersonal communication skills and zero responsibility.

Our culture curries us to be responsible to others before being responsible for ourselves. Sounds backwards doesn't it? We no longer know how to talk to one another directly and honestly, instead we avoid through ever means possible - home phone, cell phone, work phone has now turned into facebook, myspace, twitter, aim and yahoo messenger.

If we outlawed the ability to make others responsible for us, would it increase the rate of intelligence?
