Benefits of Seat Training :

Safety
The ability to stay seated in the saddle no matter the movements of the horse help ensure your well being and safety! Learn where the correct position in the saddle is located for each individual rider, how to get and stay there...
Balance & Coordination
Through a series of specialized exercises we test your balance and uniquely develop coordination throughout your body.
Use of the Aids
The same balance and coordination that we develop serves to refine your hand, seat and leg aids, increase their efficiency and require less work on your part!
Confidence
Knowing how and where to place yourself in the saddle to remain safe while also having complete control over your aids and actions gives way to a new sense of clear confidence.
Competitive Edge
While not all riding is about competing, certainly those who want to improve their performance both in and out of the show ring will find benefit. Learn how to sit the trot with ease, post to the trot with quiet legs, hands and minimal effort. Influence the horse with any of the aids you choose while being incredibly subtle and refined.
For All Riders
Whether you just want to roll down the trail on a beautiful day, create a musical kur, love to jump, hack your horse or compete in western, seat training will benefit you! What all riders have in common is the desire to stay safely and confidently in the saddle while improving the responsiveness and performance of their horse with minimal effort. Seat training presents the possibility of all these desires!

Seat Training Intensives: This intense schedule of seat training fast-tracks the rider to balance and coordination in the saddle, as well as independent use of the aids. We offer 5-7 day programs, in which the student may take two or three lessons each day. This is excellent for those wanting to get a start in classical seat training!

Individual Lessons: Lessons are available in 30, 45 & 60 minute sessions. Seat lessons are 30 or 45 minutes long. Lessons are available on a single-purchase basis, or for a discount if purchased in multiples of 4. Please contact us for details.

Training

Erica takes on a few select horses each year for training, offering a Classical approach which is easily applied to any discipline. Horses are developed in a calm and consistent manner which emphasizes relaxed responsiveness and confidence. The horse's own foundation is considered of utmost importance, and for that reason every step from catching and leading to lunging and riding are focused on in a logical order.

Whether you have a young horse needing an introduction to training, one who needs remedial work, or the well started horse you want to see progress, we can work with you!
